Searching for Beauty in Art

The most well-reviewed pieces of literature and art in all forms, are held with such high regard because of the beauty they hide. The poignancy of the messages they communicate, however subtly, are a perfect illustration of truth, meaning and beauty, conveyed in a way that the mind might not comprehend, but the heart certainly understands.

So one of my goals over 2012, one of my many goals, is to search for that beauty in places I have never before looked. In classic books I have never read, in classic films I have never watched and in classic scores that I have never heard, or if heard, never really listened to.

My journey begins, at the prompting of a friend, with Schindler's List. I'll let you know what I find.

Much love,
xx

2 chocolates:

  1. You will find poignant beauty in Schindler's List. Be sure to have some tissues on hand.

  2. Good idea! I'm curious to hear what you think of Schindler's List. As far as books go: have you read Everything is Illuminated yet? It's a book I keep re-reading, it's so well written and the story is both comic as well as heart-breaking.
